The Cosworth Genesis Coupe Ready for 2012 SEMA Show

Hyundai recently revealed a tuned up Genesis Coupe R-Spec that has some serious performance modifications ready to show off at the 2012 SEMA Show. While ARK Performance took the lead on this first Genesis design, the second transformation on the affordable premium sedan will be done by legendary UK tuner Cosworth.

With an official name like Cosworth Genesis Coupe Racing Series (CGRS) this special model features some stellar upgrades designed to give the Genesis Coupe a serious racing edge. A few to include:

  • 3.8-liter Genesis Coupe engine brought up to racecar levels
  • 389 horsepower and 325-lb.-ft. of rubber-shearing torque
  • Carbon fiber Aero front splitter
  • Cosworth Big-Brake System
  • Cosworth Two-Tone sport seats

The Hyundai CGRS will also be coated in a satin-gloss blue exterior paintjob to make it like the roll of thunder in the night. All of tuner efforts by Hyundai go to show just how great a base car the Hyundai Genesis is for tuner modifications as well as the marvels that can be made with the right Hyundai parts.

Director of Marketing Nicole Armbrustmacher of Cosworth Americas explains the reasoning behind Cosworth's tune. "The rear-drive Genesis Coupe is simply a great platform from which to build our ultimate Cosworth Genesis Racing Series street model. The Cosworth Genesis Racing Series Coupe truly demonstrates the purpose-built performance potential of the affordable Genesis Coupe line."1
