According to the U.S. Energy Information
Administration, the U.S. could see gas prices achieve a national average of
$4.00 per gallon by this summer.
If this trend is starting to hit your wallet, then you're not alone. Thankfully Hyundai had the foresight to develop four different models - all boasting 40 mpg on the highway: the Sonata Hybrid, Elantra, Accent, and Veloster (available later this year). No other automaker worldwide offers that much variety in the way of super fuel-efficient cars.
"Sonata Hybrid, Elantra, Veloster, and Accent are tapping into a newfound customer demand for high-content, fuel-efficient cars," says Mike O-Brien, VP Product and Corporate Planning, Hyundai Motor America. "These vehicles achieve 40 mpg highway without any additional cost of sacrificing content for a high fuel-economy package, making them more attractive to general car buyers."1
To give you better insight into Hyundai's dedication to fuel-economy: The Korean automaker plans to lead the industry in sales of vehicles which received a fuel-economy rating of 40 mpg, selling over 200,000 units. This projection represents more than 30 percent of the company's total anticipated global sales.
Moving forward, Hyundai will continue to answer consumers' increasing demand for fuel-efficiency, adding two more 40-mpg-highway models to their lineup over the next few years...one of which will actually get greater than 40 mpg highway. When you get right down to it, though, all of these accomplishments represent mere steps in Hyundai's ultimate goal, which is to achieve an EPA fleet average of 50 mpg by the year 2025.
